Bryce “Helmet-less” Harper hair flew throughout the contest yesterday against the St. Louis Cardinals and so did the balls off the Phillies bats as they dominate the Cards 11-4 last night after a prolonged rain delay.

Bryce Harper, one of the most hard-working and determined superstars in the MLB(unlike Manny Machado), has revived his play after a below average previous ten game stretch and hit his 10th homer and 20th double of the year while driving in four runs last night after leaving in the fifth inning because of a foul ball straight to the foot.

With the help of Scott Kingery and Maikel Franco’s back to back homers in the bottom of the fifth, the Phils cracked the game wide open early and maintained the lead despite an injury filled bullpen.

Aaron Nola who is still undefeated this season at 6-0 struck out 8 batters in 7 innings to cap off just a great overall performance by the Phillies

Their greatness however seemed to die off as earlier today the Phillies ended the series with St. Louis in defeat as they lost 5-3.

Josh Eickhoff, a relatively untested starter who is 2-3 on the year, pitched 6 innings allowing four runs(which were all home runs) and striking out 4 batters.

The Phillies rallied in the 7th after being down 5-1 as Harper and Hoskins both hit RBI singles to cut the game to 5-3. Unfortunately because of the Phillies inability to bring in runs when batters were in scoring position, they were unable to pull themselves out of the hole they dug in the first three innings and suffered their first loss to the Cardinals this season.

The Phillies and Nick Pivetta will face the NL Leading LA Dodgers on Friday Night for what should be an extremely tough series.
