Phillies outfielder Odubel “Dubes” Herrera has been placed on administrative leave after being arrested for domestic violence in Atlantic City on Monday night. Herrera was detained at the Golden Nugget Casino in Atlantic City, NJ after his 20 year old girlfriend was seen “with visible signs of injury to her arms and neck,” as police reports say.

The Phillies came out with a report that they were conducting a joint investigation and Matt Klentak is set to participate in a press conference today discussing the matter.

This incident signifies a slight rain on the Phillies recent success as they’ve won three of their last four including one victory against the Chicago Cubs and two victories against the Milwaukee Brewers. In the Phillies most recent victory against the Brewers on Saturday as Jake Arrieta pitched a terrific game and earned his staff leading sixth win on the year. Arrieta pitched eight innings allowing only two runs and five hits, while striking out eight and walking one in his first win since April 27.

McCutchen, Realmuto, Hernandez, and once again, Rhys Hoskins homered to cap off the victory. Hoskins added three hits and two RBIs to the box score and is currently seventh in the NL in total RBIs.

The game was filled with controversy in regards to umpiring as Milwaukee outfielder Ryan Braun was ejected in the fourth inning because of a spat with the umpire after a strikeout call. In addition during a pivotal two out at bat with the Phillies leading 4-2 late in the game, Arrieta threw what looked like a ball to Cain who had a 3-1 count but the umpire called it a strike and then he proceeded to ground out. Cain was frustrated with the call and voiced his opinion but unlike Braun was able to stay in the game.

After the Phils victory because of injuries to relievers Pat Neshek and David Robertson, management called up J.D. Hammer from the Triple-A Lehigh Valley Iron Pigs(who looks like Wild Thing from Major League and Justin Turner made a baby and he was an absolute stud) to hopefully help add some stability to the inconsistent Phillies bullpen.

The Phillies look to continue their success with a tough stretch versus St. Louis and then in Los Angeles to take on the NL leading LA Dodgers.
