Sixers Silence Brooklyn, Dudley Ready to Close Out Series at Home

“Icy” Mike Scott put Brooklyn to bed in Game Four as the Sixers close out a crucial victory at the Barclays Center to expand the series lead to 3-1.

Joel Embiid returned for a terrific game, per usual, scoring 31 points, 16 rebounds, 7 assists, and tallying 2 steals. In addition, the slashing play of Ben Simmons enabled open perimeter shots for Redick and Harris who added significant scoring that ultimately led to the victory.

The game started as it had for the previous three games, with an underlying tension that seemed to greatly affect the initial play. However after a scuffle instigated by Jared Dudley causing the ejection of both Dudley and Jimmy Butler, the game was soon injected with a competitive fire.

The remaining first half and second half was very close as the game went back and forth behind the play of D’Angelo Russell and Caris LeVert who each finished the game with 26 points.

Simply put, the last four minutes of this game were spectacular. After the Nets took a 7 point lead, Embiid rattled off eight straight points to compensate for the loss of fourth quarter closer, Jimmy Butler. After a huge shots by Redick and Brooklyn’s Russell within the final minute of the game, Joe Harris scored a layup to put the Nets up by one, forcing the Sixers to score quickly. Embiid found an open Mike Scott in the corner with a tipped assist and Harris later made two free throws to cement the victory.

The Sixers will “welcome” Dudley and the Nets to the Wells Fargo Center tomorrow to hopefully close out this series. Again…
